Brain-Gut Connection
Our nerves originate in our brain and extend all the way down to the tips of our fingers and toes. Therefore, a negative thought travels far beyond the brain and can cause problems in our digestion, muscles and any part of the body. If you don’t believe me, think about the last time you felt nervous. We describe it as feelings of butterflies in the stomach, but often people have to urgently run to the bathroom or feel extremely nauseous. If our thoughts only remained in our brain, then why does nervousness result in physical symptoms?
Stress is Physical
Don’t kid yourself. Your body knows your thoughts better than you do. It experiences stress even when you don’t think you’re stressed. So the next time you feel angry or anxious, take your pulse, be aware of your body temperature and monitor your eating habits. You will be surprised how much it can change.
