Uplift, Tighten and Repair Facial Collagen with Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture has been used for decades to help uplift facial skin and repair damaged skin cells. It increases collagen production, which is an essential part of keeping skin taut and reducing wrinkles. Because the needles improve circulation, the face can become warm or flushed during treatment. Additionally, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture will help relax the tense muscles of the jaw and forehead.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is different than regular acupuncture. It requires extra-fine sterile needles specifically made for delicate facial skin. These needles are not meant to be inserted deep, which means they are barely felt at all.

The Cosmetic Approach

  • Helps to eliminate fine lines and reduce the intensity of deeper lines
  • Tightens the pores of the face
  • Improves collagen and slows the aging process
  • Helps fade facial scars from acne and sun damage
  • Improves muscle tone around the forehead and eyes
  • Helps to lift drooping eyelids

The Medical Approach

  • Ideal for hormone-based skin conditions (Ie. Acne)
  • Reduces puffiness in the face (Ie. Hypothyroidism, Allergies)
  • Improves sinus congestion and sinus pain (Ie. Allergies and Cold/Flu)
  • Relaxes tension in the forehead and jaw (Ie. Migraines and Headaches)
  • Improves the sense of smell
  • Reduces the stress response and increases sense of well-being

Cautions and Contraindications

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is not advised for those on blood thinners or who bruise easily. Bruising is not common, but is always a risk with acupuncture and is always possible. Individuals on medications for cancer, AIDS, Hepatitis and Seizures/Epilepsy should avoid this type of acupuncture.

Cosmetic acupuncture will not be performed during acute cold/flu, allergic reactions, cold sore outbreaks, or after sunburns. It is not recommended during pregnancy.

How To Prepare

A detailed initial intake is required before beginning facial acupuncture. This allows the doctor to make an assessment of your skin, determine the right acupuncture points for your goals and assess your risk of bruising. Most people will only experience a slight flushing of the face during treatment, which will disappear by the end of the session.

One treatment is often not enough. For lasting effects, it is recommended to do a series of 6 treatments, one per week. After this, effects can be maintained on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. Visits are approximately 45 minutes in length.
